Solar Energy
Genius is hard to define.
But one thing I know: Solar energy is genius.
It’s not genius because it saves on the electricity bill by feeding kW back to the energy grid. That makes it financially wise. Not genius.
It’s not genius because it produces less waste, requires less fossil fuels, and is in every way less negatively impactful on the environment. That makes it conscientious but not genius.
It’s not genius because the future of power is hydro, wind, and solar. That makes it forward-thinking, maybe even clairvoyant, but not genius.
It’s genius because photovoltaic technology captures the power of what was previously “invisible". It sees the unseen. It perceives the hidden.
Genius sees what others don’t.
Every child has the gift to see what is hidden to the majority of others, but it is slowly lolled, disciplined, and even shamed out of them.
You, dear friend, have this gift too. It’s not solar energy, but it’s something. What do you see that others around you don’t, can’t, and maybe never will? That’s your genius. We all need it.
Jimmy Carter put solar panels on the White House as early as the late 70’s. Reagan removed them. (The reasons are debatable.)
Don’t let other peoples' blindness discourage your genius.
Don’t let others remove your solar panels.
