The Right Amount
Too little money and you can’t keep the fridge full or the lights on. Too much money and you acquire more stuff to worry about (including the money itself).
Too little movement and exercise, and you suffer from the symptoms of an over-sedentary lifestyle. Too many hours of exercise and you become injury prone (and lose friends).
Too few reviews, fine-tunings, and final corrections, and an average product gets shipped. Too much feedback, polish, and fine-tunings, and it doesn’t get shipped on time.
Too few social encounters and you become a socially awkward hermit. Too many social encounters and you don’t have time to unwind and reflect.
Big or small, any issue with consequence has a “right amount”—the point of “enough”.
The more-is-better doctrine is not always right. At some point the returns diminish, and eventually negative consequences ensue.
The less-is-better doctrine is not always right either.
By merely asking, What/Where/How much is enough?, means you’re on the right track.
Knowing the answer is a sign of true wisdom (and the experience of happiness).
