[Measuring Success – II]
Social isolation is killing us. It negatively affects our immune system, disrupts our sleep patterns, causes inflammation, raises our stress hormones, and on and on.
There’s an exploding self-help industry profiting on the promise to make us well through various practices, habits, and products. That’s all fine and good, but I’ve yet to see one of those cheery Youtube salespeople say, “Look, take some cookies to your neighbor.”
Are we measuring for loneliness?
Or are we measuring its opposite: community, connection, belonging, friendship, kinship, support, solidarity?
Or have we chalked up one of the most pervasive “diseases" of our day to being un-measureable?
People like us that want to measure for success must ask.
