Weekly Roundup: Gathering

April 20 – April 24, 2020

Monday: The first step to edifying gatherings, meetings, even dinner parties, is to be able to name the goal upfront.

Tuesday: Space matters. It will either promote the purpose, agenda, goal, and hoped-for outcomes of the gathering or it will detract from them.

Wednesday: As leaders, don’t give the perception that there is a vacuum—unintentional, empty time and space. If we do, we’re effectively handing the reigns of the gathering over to whoever has the least self-control.

Thursday: When we gather with people that don’t share our work, interests, or passions, we’re brought down to earth. And the added benefit is we’re reminded that our calling is sometimes a matter of simply putting in the hard work.

Friday: A successful gathering is one that promotes full presence through engagement, learning, participation, interaction, and thoughtfulness. Assuming guests are present almost certainly means they are not.
